Would you pay more for FOOD?
Have you ever thought of going beyond your budget just to satisfy your FOOD cravings?
For an average salary earner like me, it is really a challenge to spend more than 200 pesos a day for my meals. It’s already been set that my budget for food should not go beyond the amount allocated or else I will be starving the next day and what’s worst is that you will be left with an option to ask money from your parents ( which is not an ideal thing as it defeats the purpose of growing hahaha).
Going back to the topic, I think it’s not wrong to spend beyond your budget allocation just for experience purposes only and to avoid being ignorant of such a thing in the future.
One of my favorite place to go is Vikings, it doesn’t mean that if I love it then I always go there haha. The good thing about Vikings is their birthday promotion. I’ve been to Vikings thrice already, first is when I decided to give it a try and next is during my sister and brother-in-laws birthday. Imagine, birthday celebrants get a free dinner, all they need to do is just bring at least 2 pax with them to take advantage of the free entrance/admission (whatever you call it) plus if you bring kids with you with a height of less than 3 ft then no charge for them as well. For Adults, charge will be 788 pesos + 5% service charge per pax. I’m not sure with kids above 3 ft though. Just visit their website at www.vikings.ph for more details.
Talking about the foods, what I love is the beef (yum yum yum). So they are grilled beef (I think) where you can choose wether rare, medium or well done but of course I’ll choose the well done because I don’t like the idea of eating a meat which has signs of being rare except salmon or other kinds of fish used in sashimi and sushi. Talking about sashimi and sushi, I’m not really an expert when it comes to taste but I love it. Well, just to let you know, I really can’t differentiate food from one merchant to another because my taste bud always reacts the same so if you will ask me which Restaurant is the best then please don’t bother me with that because all of them are the same for me.
Well, there’s a lot of food that you can eat in Vikings, specially seafoods which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. Talking about beverages, they have a lot to offer as well so if I were you, just take a small amount from your budget and try to eat at Vikings just once if you haven’t tried it.
The only complaint I have with Vikings specially in SM City Cebu is that their staffs are not that friendly I guess. Based on my experience, those guys who are collecting used plates and glasses are somehow rude. For me, it’s not difficult to just say “Excuse me” or “May I” if you need to excuse yourself or need to get something on the table. I know that standing and walking around for a long period of time is a bit tiresome but to think that you are in the service industry, you should also try to respect your customers. Well, I don’t want to be dramatic here but seeing those grumpy faces from staffs makes my experience not satisfying at all. One staff I heard on September 26, 2017 during my brother-in-laws birthday uttered the word “Producer Feeds” which pertains to the food served to hogs. Isn’t it a bit insulting and rude? We did not take it further anymore because it was 10pm and the kids are a bit tired so we decided to go out after paying the bills.
My only advice is that since you are in the customer service industry, you should be mindful with your actions and behavior when dealing with customers. Lucky enough that we did not file a formal complaint but if it was done to customers who loves to complaint then embrace yourselves.
So I will be giving 2 ratings for Vikings:
1. 5/5 for the food - very mouthwatering and satisfying.
2. 1/5 for the customer service - I know that it’s very challenging to interact with customers face to face but I know you can fake it to make it. Vikings should train their staffs more on how to handle customers because if customers are treated right then it will add more points to the establishment as they will be a good promoter. I know that the company doesn’t need any promoters at all because they are a very established entity but giving a little time to improve customer service is not difficult to do.
